Bishop Ihloff Visits – January 29th
Bishop Ihloff will celebrate and preach at St. James on Sunday, January 29th.
Bishop Ihloff served as Bishop Diocesan of Maryland from 1995-2007. Born and raised in central Connecticut, Bishop Ihloff was ordained a deacon in 1967 and priest in 1968. Before becoming Bishop of Maryland, he served parishes in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey. As Bishop of Maryland, he worked extensively on congregational renewal, social justice issues, Christian formation, and the development of the Claggett Center, our diocesan camp and conference center in Frederick County. He now serves as Assisting Bishop to the diocesan bishop, the Rt. Rev. Eugene Sutton.
Bishop Ihloff and his wife Nancy have two married children and six grandchildren. He is a voracious reader and an opera lover. A life-long gardener, he has, over the years, cultivated more than 150 varieties of 19th century and English roses. He lives today in a high rise building in Baltimore City and his gardening is confined to pots on the deck.
